The airway protocol consists of six total steps and includes a comprehensive exam and a cone beam X-ray to evaluate your airway anatomy (the nose, joint and airway). The first step of our airway protocol includes making sure that you are breathing through your nose. After doing this, and after performing your exam and reviewing the X-ray images, our dentist can move to the next step in the protocol: creating a temporary medical orthotic. This oral appliance is used to find the best position to manage your airway so that you can breathe easily at night. The final step in our airway protocol is to create a custom mandibular repositioning appliance. This oral appliance will help keep your airway open so that you can breathe normally and naturally while asleep.
